Who We Are

Dr. Colin Beal (Founder) - Colin became a TEA/LCA expert earning his PhD from The University of Texas at Austin (Mechanical Engineering) in 2011. Since, he has worked for NASA, Cornell, Hawaii, Texas, Duke, Air Force, Colorado State, and others performing engineering design and TEA/LCA analysis for a variety of energy and agricultural products. Colin prides himself on performing detailed control-volume analyses that provide coherent engineering insight and business perspective. He is also the owner of Beal Cattle Co. and Low Carbon Beef LLC.

Jack Smith received his Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering studying biofuel production pathways at Colorado State University. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Colorado State University in Engineering Science. He is interested in learning about advanced biofuels and the criteria concerning their economical viability, as well as how modeling might be applied to simulate technology adoption. Outside of work, Jack enjoys movies, travel, and soccer.

Dr. Carlos Rios Perez – Carlos has led and participated in several engineering projects to improve manufacturing and mining processes. He has also worked designing solutions to address energy availability and water pollution challenges in Peru. His expertise in mass and energy transport phenomena (Doctorate at The University of Texas at Austin in Mechanical Engineering, 2014) and experience developing prototypes (while associated with MIT and Harvard University) are his most valuable assets to B&D. Carlos is also an Assistant Professor in the Energy and Mechanical Engineering Department at the Universidad de Ingenieria y Tecnologia in Lima, Peru since 2016.

David Robinson, PE – David earned a Civil and Environmental Engineering degree from Virginia Tech in 2009. He has worked as a land development engineer and project manager in Maryland and Virginia. Since joining the B&D team, David has contributed to the TEA/LCA analysis for Cornell and other commercial projects. His background has led David to promote sustainable engineering solutions in land development and seek more financially viable ways to provide them. These skills offer B&D with an additional distinctive approach to design and analysis.

Aubrey McClendon – Aubrey has a BS from Oklahoma State University in Business and Finance and is experienced in customer service. She is committed to assisting clients and our partners working with B&D.
